King Hezekiah was gravely ill, and the prophet Isaiah delivered a devastating message: “Set your house in order, for you shall die; you will not recover.” Instead of resigning to his fate, Hezekiah turned to the Lord in prayer, pouring out his heart. God, moved by Hezekiah’s faith and sincerity, sent Isaiah back with a new message: Hezekiah’s life would be extended by fifteen years, and he would witness God’s deliverance of Jerusalem from Assyria.
