Title: Faithful Stewards: Honoring God with What He Has Entrusted to Us
Text: “It is required in stewards that one be found faithful” (1 Corinthians 4:2).

Introduction (2 minutes)

Opening Illustration:
Imagine a wealthy landowner who entrusts his servants with his estate, expecting them to manage it wisely until his return. This is the essence of stewardship—a responsibility given, not for our own gain, but for the glory of the owner.

Ellen White, in Counsels on Stewardship, Chapter 1, reminds us that everything we have—our time, talents, money, and possessions—belongs to God. We are merely His stewards, tasked with managing these blessings for His purpose.

Key Question:
How can we be faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us?

1. Recognizing God as the Ultimate Owner

Ellen White’s Insight:

  • “God is the rightful owner, and man is His steward. Man’s position is one of trust; a steward acts in Christ’s stead” (Counsels on Stewardship, p. 22).
  • Everything we possess—our wealth, abilities, influence, and even life itself—originates from God.

Biblical Foundation:

  • Psalm 24:1: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
  • Our role is not ownership but faithful management of what God has placed in our care.

Practical Application:

  • Reflect on your daily activities and possessions. Are you using them in ways that honor God?
  • Recognize that our financial resources are not just for personal gain but to advance God’s kingdom.

2. Stewardship of Time, Talents, and Resources

Ellen White’s Insight:

  • “Our time belongs to God. Every moment is His, and we are under the most solemn obligation to improve it to His glory” (Counsels on Stewardship, p. 23).
  • She emphasizes the importance of dedicating our talents and resources to the service of God and others.

Biblical Foundation:

  • Matthew 25:14-30 (Parable of the Talents): Each servant was given resources according to their ability. The faithful servants multiplied their talents, while the unfaithful one buried his.
  • God expects us to use what He has given us—our skills, intellect, and possessions—for His purpose.

Practical Application:

  • Time Stewardship: Dedicate a portion of each day to prayer, Bible study, and service to others.
  • Talents Stewardship: Identify your God-given abilities and ask how they can be used to glorify Him.
  • Financial Stewardship: Practice systematic giving through tithes and offerings.

Example:
Share a testimony or story of someone who used their time, talent, or resources to serve God and how it blessed their life.

3. Faithful Stewardship Brings Eternal Rewards

Ellen White’s Insight:

  • Faithfulness in stewardship is not just about earthly success but eternal significance. She writes, “The talents, however few, are to be put to use. The question that each will have to answer in the judgment is not, How much have you received? but, What have you done with that which you have had?” (Counsels on Stewardship, p. 27).

Biblical Foundation:

  • 1 Corinthians 9:25: “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.”
  • Our faithfulness here on earth prepares us for the eternal rewards of God’s kingdom.

Practical Application:

  • Stewardship is not about the amount we have but our faithfulness in managing it.
  • Start small by making deliberate choices to honor God with your time, talents, and resources.

Challenge:
Ask yourself, “Am I living today in a way that invests in eternity?”

Conclusion

Key Takeaway:
Faithful stewardship is a lifestyle of honoring God with everything He has entrusted to us—our time, talents, and resources. It’s a recognition that we are caretakers, not owners, and our faithfulness has eternal implications.

Closing Appeal:

  • Let us commit to being faithful stewards, dedicating our lives and possessions to God’s service.
  • As Ellen White reminds us, “The blessing of God will rest upon every soul that makes a full consecration to Him” (Counsels on Stewardship, p. 30).

Prayer:
“Lord, thank You for entrusting us with Your blessings. Teach us to be faithful stewards of our time, talents, and resources, always seeking to glorify You. Help us live lives that reflect Your grace and prepare us for the eternal rewards You have promised. Amen.”
